Spiritual enlightenment is not an easy thing to achieve, and those who succeed, gain deepest respects and adoration from the world.
But beware of people who pretend to be enlightened, but in reality are just duping you for your money or just to gain some position in the world. Beware of such tricksters because they are truly harmful people. Here is a list of 7 things which differentiates a truly awakened person from a false one.
1. They know that multiple paths exist
Truly awakened people know that if one door closes there is always another waiting to be explored. They are aware that no two paths are the same and require different levels of energy, motivation and courage to pass. Those who pretend to be awake try to make spiritual enlightenment look easy and simple to achieve. Do not believe such people.
2. They have no pretentious airs
You will not see a true teacher whining and complaining about the difficulties of life. He/she will be mature about it and deal with it in such a way that her/his life becomes an example for others. They lead a life which is spiritually full and wholesome. They do not need to pretend or boast about their achievements and make others feel small in front of them.
3. They impart knowledge of love and freedom
They are very aware of what real love and freedom is about so they will never force anyone to follow their command. It is up to you whether you want to follow their guidance and achieve enlightenment. They will also not allow you to take them for granted despite all their kindness and generosity. You should naturally respect them and if you are not able to then you can leave. They do not ask for anything from their disciples.
4. They are least bothered by money
Pretentious teachers will charge you a lot of money for your spiritual journey. Honestly, they do not even care about your growth and development. They are just here to make money. On the other hand, honest teachers are least concerned with money. They would like you to shed your worldly persona and all the material things in order to achieve your goal.
5. They welcome criticism positively
The best quality of a true teacher (in any field actually) is that he/she is willing to hear criticism against her/him without the feelings of grudge and envy. They should be able to take criticism in a positive light since they are also not perfect. They know that teaching is also a journey as much as learning is.
6. They are calm and patient with you
They fully understand the meaning of patience. They will not make you hurry though various lessons and concepts so that their job is finished. They will be patient with you till the time you understand what they are trying to teach. Some people become aware quickly than others but that doesn’t mean that there is any problem with you or the teacher. They are just naturally bent towards enlightenment than most.
7. They are very humble and generous
Honest teachers are truly the most humble people you will ever meet. They are not selfish and believe in doing well for the humanity. They will be there when you most need them, unlike those pretentious guides who will run away when the going gets tough. These truly awakened people are the real givers and healers of the world. Try to seek them out instead of falling for tricksters.
